Kathy has over 30 years experience in the business world, working her way up from clerical positions to Director of Human Resources for several companies. Kathy has managed to progress through the ranks while raising a family and furthering her education along the way. Kathy knows what it takes to survive in the male-dominated business world of the early '70's through today, and has great understanding of the trials and tribulations of a woman in the workplace. After obtaining her Masters' degree in Psychology, Kathy began working as a therapist in marriage and family counseling with The Hospice of the North Coast and The Elizabeth Hospice. She has gained a wealth of experience in grief counseling, tuning in to the various needs of widows and children. In addition,
Kathy had a private MFT (Marriage Family Therapy) practice where she worked
with couples in therapy and with family issues. She also assisted women
in distress due to financial concerns, family responsibilities or career
advancement. During recent years, Kathy discovered that her clients were more interested in making changes than correcting the past. For this reason she switched more to coaching which she finds very positive and exciting. Kathy finds it personally rewarding to watch people progress every week toward their goals. Kathy speaks to many businesses in the San Diego area to educate employees on the various personality types in the workplace and how to deal most effectively with workplace conflict. At 40 years old, Kathy decided to finish her Bachelor's degree and switched her major from Business to Psychology, obtaining the coveted Bachelors' degree in three years. She enjoyed the learning process so much she continued on to obtain her Masters' Degree in Psychology in the evenings while working full time. The feelings of accomplishment for both degrees are indescribable and are explained by her as being "euphoric". Education has become of immense importance to her, and she continues to research, read, and learn daily. Kathy is an enthusiastic supporter of any person wanting to further their education. Areas of support:
Kathy has been married for 22 years, and has raised three stepchildren, considering them her own. As a brand new bride at 25, the children's mother passed away unexpectedly and Kathy stepped in and raised them from ages 9, 11, and 13 through college. She now has two grandchildren and enjoys the peace and freedom that come with an empty nest, although the process can be painful. Kathy is well versed in the issues, pressures and surprises that come from raising a blended family while maintaining a career! Areas for support:
